History

Bora Bora was settled by Polynesians over 1,000 years ago. Europeans arrived in the 1700s, and France later annexed the island. During WWII, the U.S. built an airbase that helped create the foundation for today’s tourism. Now it’s one of the world’s most iconic luxury islands.
